What is OctiMax?

Octenol lure is a kairomone attractant that mimics human breath odours. It is designed to enhance the catch rate of mosquitoes and biting midges. It is suitable for use in both surveillance and control traps and supports Integrated Vector Management (IVM) programmes.

• Active Ingredients: 1-Octen-3-ol 32% w/w
• Longevity: Replace every 4 weeks or as recommended by local agricultural authority.
• Dispenser: Felt Pad inside a polypropylene cartridge, packaged in a foil bag.
• Shelf Life: 24 months when stored correctly (in a cool, dry, shaded place at 10-20°C).

Application Instructions

1. Preparation: Remove the lure from its protective packaging immediately before use.
2. Activation: Carefully remove the aluminium seal covering the release hole. This will activate the lure and allow the active ingredient to disperse.
3. Placement: Position traps in shaded, humid areas with high mosquito activity for optimal performance.

Usage Guidance

Monitoring / Surveillance: Primarily designed to attract mosquitoes and biting midges for population monitoring, species identification, or research purposes.

Control / IVM: While effective in surveillance traps, the lure can also be deployed in control traps as part of a broader strategy, complementing other measures such as larval source reduction or biological control.
